Homer Estes  Wilson
Homer Estes Wilson age 81, of Warrior passed away Thursday, April 30th, 2015 at his residence.

A sharecroppers son that rose to be District 9 Director of United Steel Workers of America, he was devoted to the working class people. A life long member of the Democratic Party; a member of the Lions Club for 8 years, and a animal advocate that helped to establish the Blount County Animal Shelter. Mr. Wilson was a very lovable man who enjoyed the outdoors, riding his gator on the farm and feeding the deer.


Survivors include his wife Dinah Mae King Wilson; sons Johnny Albert Wilson (Vickie), James-Royce Houston Wilson (Ada), Elton James Barks, Jr. (Rhonda); daughters Susan Marie Wilson, Linda Dunn Foshee; brother Robert Wilson; sisters Effie Ann Burd, Joyce Key; grandchildren Ryan Wilson, April Dawn Wilson Crowley, Joshua Lee Barks, Brittney Nicole Barks, Scott Ryans, Heather Touchton (Darrell); great grandchildren Madison Rae Crowley, Bailey Marie Crowley, Knox Wilson, Grace Isabell Wilson, Kaylee Touchton, Brandon Touchton; and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Fred Estes and Zery Ozell Wilson; brothers William Wilson and Corbert Dean Wilson.

The family will receive friends at the Blount County Cleveland Funeral Home 17885 State Highway 160 Cleveland, Alabama 35049 on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held in Lakeland Florida later with burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lakeland, Florida. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to USW District 9 Education Fund/Homer Wilson Scholarship P.O. Box 1105 Gardendale, AL 35071
