Obituary for William Wade Newman

William Newman age 80, of Altoona passed away Monday, March 15th, 2021 at his residence.

Survivors include wife Elizabeth "Libby" Newman, sons Robert Paul Newman (Adonna), Tommy Joe Newman, daughter-in-law Shelia Newman, sisters Maxiene Oldham, Laura Hudler, Robbie Bleakley, grandchildren Brooklyn and Braylen Kimbrough, Robert P. Newman (Crystal), Wesley R. Newman, Bobbie Jo Newman, William Warren Newman, Michael Bennett and Nathan Doty. Great grandchildren Archadia R. Carroll, Jaxon William and Nevaeh Elain Newman. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee and Eula Mae Newman, first wife Margaret Annette Newman, son William Wade "Billy" Newman ,Jr., sisters Cannie Maye Freeman and Bobbie Annette Newman.

The family will receive friends at the Union Hill Baptist Church Friday, March 19th, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 19th, 2021 at 3:00 pm in the Union Hill Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Dailey's Chapel Cemetery in Rosa, Alabama.


Mr. Newman was born in Wheeler , Tx., he was in the U.S. Air Force 4 years and a 25 year veteran with the Panama City, FL Police Department, where he retired as a lieutenant. He was the President of the Fraternal Order of Police in Oneonta, AL . He coached little league ball, in Keller, Tx. for his sons, He enjoyed umpiring t-ball in Blount and Etowah counties, Mr. Newman was a deacon in his church at Union Hill Baptist where he was heavily involved, he loved to drive the Joymaker bus and was an avid dog lover.
