Obituary for Wanda "Snow" Rice (Thomas)

Wanda “Snow” Thomas Rice, 74, of Oneonta, passed on March 8, 2021. She was a member of High Rock First Congregational Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her racing family, going to sporting events, cooking, being active in the church and keeping people in line.

She was born in Bentley, Oklahoma on November 28, 1946 to Katie Luvoy Howard and Ralph Lee Thomas, and was the fourth of six children. She graduated from Tushka High School in Atoka OK. She was a member of multiple State Championship team while at Tushka, two in basketball and two in volleyball. She was selected to the All-Star team and competed in Oklahoma City her senior year.

Surviving are husband Harley Rice of Oneonta, daughter Tammy Rice Haneline of Corinth, MS., son Charles Rice and wife Dori of Knoxville, TN. and son Phillip Rice and wife Kelli of Pell City, AL. Grandchildren Trinity Rice, Hailey Haneline, Harley Haneline and Christian Rice. Great-grandchildren Serena Rice, Keaton Rice and Paisley Rice. Sister Sue Thomas Webster of Bentley, OK., Jean Thomas Mobbs of Durant, OK. And Shirley Thomas McGuire and husband Darrell of Bentley, OK.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, brother Norman Thomas and sister Martha Thomas Peterson, both of Atoka, OK.

Viewing will be Saturday, March 13 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Blount County Funeral Home in Cleveland. Bro. Randy Hale and Bro. Joel Johnson will officiate the 2 p.m. service on Sunday, March 14 at High Rock First Congregational Church. Pallbearers: Scott Callaway, Alan Copeland, Jay Green, Jeff Sherrill, Jason Adcock, Chad Bryant and Alan Callaway.

The family request in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Cemetery Fund at High Rock Church.
