LaVirgie (Jones) Franklin age 79, of Gardendale, AL, passed away Friday, December 22nd, 2023 at her residence.
Survivors include children: Pam (Dale) Pinyan, Rex (Feleicia) Branham, Loil (Susan) Branham, sister Sandra (Richard) Baker, grandchildren Noah (Anna) Pinyan, Jordan, Bailey, Jaxson, Averie and Logan Branham, great-grandchildren Adelyn Reno Colton McPoland and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Virgle Ivan Whitley, mother Helon Abbott Olinger, brother Curtis Whitley, and her husbands Jimmy Branham and Hugh Franklin,
The family will receive friends at the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel 17885 State Hwy 160 Cleveland, Alabama 35049 Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 27th, 2023 at 1:00pm in the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Nectar Cemetery in Nectar, Alabama.
LaVirgie was a graduate of Hayden High School. She married Jimmy Branham in 1962, they were married for 27 years and lived in Nectar. They had 3 children, Pam, Rex and Loil.
She attended Cosmetology school in 1965 and opened her own beauty shop in the Nectar area. In the 70's her claim to fame was an article she wrote every week for the Oneonta news paper. It was called "Life with LaVirgie", She loved to get fan mail.
After the death of her husband "Jimmy" in 1989, she started working at Walmart Distribution center in Cullman, AL. where she married Hugh Franklin in 1991. In 2012 Her and Hugh moved to Cleveland. When Hugh passed in 2020, she married her current husband Cecil Franklin. They were married on Dec. 18, 2020 and living in Gardendale, AL.
