Obituary for Jean Bailey (Hughes)

Jean Hughes Bailey, 79, of Cleveland, went home to be with the Lord on October 26, 2020.


She was born to the late TC and Eliza Hughes, February 16, 1941, in West Virginia and moved to Alabama when she was 4 years old. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Milford Bailey, brothers: Robert Hughes, Dexter Hughes, Thomas Hughes and Vester Hughes, sisters Rosa Lee Cryar and Loretta Hughes and grandson Jeremy Lee.



She married the late Milford Bailey on February 27, 1959, and they lived a beautiful 59 years together. Jean is survived by three children: David Bailey (Velicia), of Clay; Phillip Bailey (Meliah) of Cleveland; and Jena Lee (Chris), of Cleveland. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Bryan Bailey (Amanda), Dalton Bailey, Matt Lee and Shelly Bailey and 2 great-grandchildren: Norah and Parker Bailey. She is also Survived by brothers: Reefer Hughes, Lester Hughes and Marlin Hughes and sister Linda Davidson.



Jean was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother. Nothing meant more to her than her family. She was a follower of Christ and a member of Locust Fork Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and devoted Christian. She was a caregiver to her parents, sister and, lovingly, her husband. She was an avid gardener and a lover of flowers.



Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 6 to 8 pm at Blount County Cleveland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 29, 2020, Blount County Cleveland Funeral Home at 1 pm with burial to follow immediately at Cleveland Memory Gardens. Service will be Officiated by Bro. Rufus Harris and Bro. Matt Lee.
