Obituary for Charles Emmitt Blackwood

Charles Emmitt Blackwood, 80, of Cleveland, Alabama passed away September 28, 2020 after a brief illness.
Mr. Blackwood was born October 16, 1939 in Cleveland, Alabama. He attended Cleveland High School, graduating in 1958. Much of his career was spent working at Lamson & Sessions in Birmingham, and co-owning/operating two assisted living facilities. He loved Alabama Crimson Tide football, farming, gardening, and deer hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Owen Blackwood, son Joseph Blackwood, both of Cleveland, daughter Charlene Blackwood Hallman (Chris) of Trussville, grandsons Nick Hallman and Noah Hallman, sisters Betty Pass (Arnold), Connie Vaughn (Edsel), Janice Bramen, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Theresa Lochamy Blackwood, and brothers Jerry Blackwood, Weldon Blackwood, and Kenneth “Scott” Blackwood.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Cleveland, Thursday October 1, 2020 from 2pm until 3pm. Funeral Services will follow at 3pm in the church. Entombment to be held at Oak Hill cemetery, in Oneonta, AL.
