Obituary for Mary Ellen Chitwood (Beavers)

Mary Ellen (Beavers) Chitwood, age 81, of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, February 6th, 2018 at St. Vincent's Blount Hospital. Born in Birmingham on December 23, 1936, she is preceded in death by her parents Byron and Vera Holland Beavers; 2 brothers Joseph R. Beavers, William (Billy) Wayne Beavers; and 1 sister Juanita Beavers Serrano; 1 grandson Joseph Matthew Chitwood and great grandson Dalton Chitwood Hanson.

Left to cherish the memories of her are her husband of 60 years, Garfield Chitwood; 1 son Steve and Carolyn Chitwood; 2 daughters Rebecca "Becky" Chitwood, Laverne Chitwood Silvers; 4 grandchildren Josh Chitwood, Holli Chitwood, Telitha Chitwood Poole (Steve), Russell Silvers (Emily); 9 great grandchildren Chloe, Ethan, Erin, Payton, Landon, Hunter, Ali, Rayland, Baily, and Aubrey; sisters Iva Lee Shelton (Henry), Betty Hubbard, Ruthie White, Betsy Koeing (Joe).

The family will receive friends at the Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at Zion Hill Cemetery in Horton, Alabama at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 8th 2018. Pallbearers to be Josh Chitwood, Holli Chitwood, Telitha Poole, Russell Silvers, Payton Chitwood, Landon Chitwood. Honorary Pallbearers are all the great grandchildren.

Mrs. Chitwood enjoyed cooking, canning and love to take care of her home.

Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
